"Star Wars Celebration" is a large-scale official Star Wars event that will be held at Makuhari Messe from Friday, April 18th to Sunday, April 20th, 2025. This will be the second time the event has been held in Japan in 17 years , and a variety of content is planned, including guest talks, autograph sessions, art shows, and official merchandise sales.

Prohibitions and rules regarding savers and props

Metal and plastic lightsaber hilts are welcome at Lightsabers: A Star Wars Celebration, however, if they are used in a manner that harms or may harm other people or property within the venue, you will be removed from the venue and no refunds will be given.

Swords: Only those made of lightweight plastic or foam are permitted on board.

As mentioned above, as a general rule, sword fighting (dueling) and reenacting sword fighting acts are prohibited within the venue.

Swinging the blade widely, such as in a spin, may also fall under the "methods that may injure other people or property" rule above.

Please avoid lightsaber action unless it is clearly permitted by the organizers, such as official stages or cosplay contests. You should also refrain from clashing sabers together unless you are in a safe place, such as outdoors.

Waving the saber at people is prohibited, and it is recommended to limit it to posing for photos.

Manners in the venue

• Always ask permission before handling other fans' lightsabers: At the venue, you may have the opportunity to see and touch other fans' lightsabers up close. These are cherished collections , and many of them are expensive custom items, so be sure to ask permission from the owner before using or touching them.
• Use in photography: Lightsabers are very popular as photo props. You can light up your lightsaber and take commemorative photos inside the venue, but please refrain from illuminating it in dark areas or during screenings so as not to disturb others around you.
• Use at official events: There are also fan events using lightsabers (e.g. simultaneous lighting, group photos, etc.). When participating in these events, be sure to follow the instructions of staff.

Risk of theft and loss

At event venues, it is possible that you may leave your lightsaber behind during long trips or in the middle of a crowded venue. Even a little carelessness, such as when taking photos or taking a break, can lead to it being lost or stolen. Custom sabers are particularly expensive, so always be sure to take good care of them.

In preparation for the event

• Bring a fully charged lightsaber battery with you.
  In particular, NeoPixel lightsabers tend to consume battery power quickly, and even when fully charged, they can only be used continuously for around 30 minutes .
  If you have a removable model, we recommend carrying a spare battery .

• Carrying tools (such as an Allen wrench) can be useful when fixing the blade or adjusting the saber.
  The following wrenches are compatible with metric (mm) savers.

• The operation method of custom lightsabers varies depending on the board they are equipped with.
  We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the operation in advance so that you are not confused on the day of the event.
